I jus
It's embarrassing tbh
Why do we need shows like this?
U don't see White.Ish or Irish.Ish
Jus make a show with an all black or mixed cast with out trying to make THAT the focus
Is that so hard?
n
the only thing embarrassing is your mindset here bby

but overall I dont see how any of it is embarrassing they're nice, funny little sitcoms with ppl of color
and Black-ish is very informative and educational

I'm not super familiar with blackish but I think the "ish" part comes from the fact that although the family is black , they must assimilate and conform for survival
as in, speaking "properly", navigating corporate America ... So they're black-ISH.

nah its Anthony Anderson is Black and Tracee Ellis Ross is bi-racial Black and White
so their family mostly Black but a little bit White, so Black-ish
and its similar to the show creator Kenya Barris' family
Nigga I was actually agreeing with u for once and you had to fuck the shit up

like 99% sure, and they deal with everything with race from racism, police brutality etc
Anthony's character is not proper at all at work, doesnt have to wear suits or anything, Tracee/Rainbow is a doctor
they have 5 kids a lot of the show is set at home, nothing about corporations
It's a bi-racial mess both of them

i mean yeah of course they deal with racial issues On black ish
But there's a difference between tackling the black experience and focusing on the mixed/biracial experience
Does black-ish focus on struggles of someone growing up with one black parent and one White parent, etc?
Yes gor
good hair bad hair etc
Yeah we know that tracee is mixed, and some of the kids on there may be of mixed heritage... but do they emphasize that on black-ish
as in talking about it, etc
or do they keep it focused on the black experience as a whole
Quote from: Choke on January 26, 2021, 12:28:36 PM

boy ...
Good hair/bad hair is not a mixed biracial experience conversation Specifically
That's definitely a black community convo
It kinda Falls under colorism.

yes they do, they have conflicts about the way each of the characters raise the kids due to their different backgrounds, Anthony's parents live with the family, Tracee's parents (one white, one black) visit sometimes
thats actually the catalyst for the mixed-ish spinoff
The mess needs to go. Period

i see.
I still see why mixed - ish was created though .
There's an entirely separate experience that comes for kids/people who have one black parent and one white parent
Unless black-ish was exclusively tackling that experience , as opposed to touching on it here and there , there was room for a spin off
They're basically capitalizing on the growing mixed/ biracial population .
Based on what I've seen there definitely is a struggle worth exploring for them .
Choke mentioned "good hair" and "bad hair " being discussed but there are a lot of black people who come from mostly black families with a different texture of hair .
And some biracial people don't even "look mixed". it's the EXPERIENCE that separates them IMO. Like having their white grandparents barfing at the thought of their white mother child deciding to lay down and have a child with a nigger 🤮🤮 etc.
I've seen some crazy stories .

i think the point is to push the convo and to make whites feel uncomfortable a bit .. BLACK ISH means this show is BLACK BLACK we here and not going no where. They are shows for us. IF they didnt have that the convo would be
We aint gots no black shows.
nothing for us to watch etc
