Just under two years since it launched, LVMH is closing the doors on Rihanna's fashion label Fenty.
The French luxury conglomerate confirmed the brand would be put on pause in a statement to Women's Wear Daily (WWD) that read: "Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions."
Observant fans will have noticed the Fenty Instagram has been inactive since January 1, and there hasn't been a new collection dropped on the site since November 2020, when Rihanna collaborated with one of her favourite shoe designers Amina Muaddi on a capsule of electric blue and white PVC sexed-up stilettos.
According to WWD, a skeleton staff remains at Fenty's Paris headquarters to wind down operations, while the e-commerce site is expected to go dark in the next few weeks.
All is not lost for Fenty fans however, as LVMH plans to concentrate its efforts on supporting and growing Rihanna's cosmetics companies Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, and also to become more involved with her incredibly successful lingerie company Savage x Fenty.
As the first Black woman to preside over an LVMH brand and the first time the luxury group has launched a fashion brand from scratch since Christian Lacroix in 1987, Rihanna's Fenty was history-making, if short-lived.

Better to concentrate on the actual money makers.

LVMH will become more involved, meaning correct some issues. Maybe she was trying to do too much too soon.

It's not.
Can't say I'm surprised
Love Rih, but the pieces were so BASIC for the prices she was charging. She was legit selling a regular white denim jacket for like $1500 sdddffds :dead:couture!
Rih should have catered to the everyday woman with her line. The Target/Kohl's/Macy's and even Fashion Nova crowd. Jessica Simpson and Mary Kate & Ashley have done so successfully. She took a huge risk with luxury couture. The real luxury/high fashion girls weren't messing with Fenty.

She needs her ass beat for this. Ivy Park would never.
Not surprised. Her fan base does not have the money to support a luxury clothing line. People who do have the money aren't buying clothes from Rihanna, even if it is under the LVMH umbrella. It would've been smarter to launch an H&M collection. This won't be coming back either.
Farewell!
