The lobby staff members who closed the door to a Manhattan apartment building last week without taking immediate action after a Filipino-American woman was brutally attacked on the street outside have been fired, the building's owners told residents in an email on Tuesday.
Rick Mason, the executive director of management at the Brodsky Organization, which owns the luxury apartment building in Midtown, told residents of all the organization's buildings in an email that two staff members who were inside the building lobby at the time had not followed "required emergency and safety protocols."
"For this reason, their employment has been terminated, effective immediately," Mr. Mason's email said.
He did not identify the employees by name, and a spokeswoman did not specify the protocols that staff members had not followed.
I don't agree with this. That guy could have been armed.

They weren't IN the building
Are security hotel staff supposed to be patrolling the streets too? :uhh:
So dumb.
They're building staff, not law enforcement.
I'd sue

the fags didn't even call the cops. THAT'S what they're referring to. they weren't expecting them to go out and slap box the fool. just at least pick up the damn PHONE.
:dead:
Am always shocked when Oph is right but she gotta point here
If they just stood there without calling someone or having some sense of urgency about what was taking place in front of the building they work in as lobby staff.. I can see why they're unemployed now
I don't think it's their responsibility to go out and play rent-a-cop but just standing around twiddling their thumbs after closing the door and just watching it go down wasn't the right thing to do either
If I were one of the residents in the building I'd want them fired too. Not cuz it was an old Asian lady but because you're telling me that hired staff in the lobby doesn't have a sense of urgency when a clear emergency is right in front of them?
I doubt they'd do the same if someone was outside waving a gun but I wouldn't wanna take the chance . Can both of them and hire people who act accordingly for any emergency. Fuck chun li tbh.
They could've at least yelled for him to stop before locking the doors, this sounds justified.
