The way she used to be dropping amazing music with amazing beats and lyrics and always so in line with her style and did so effortlessly I know this is this old but this beat ..these lyrics.. the message..how it encourages people of color?  :plzstop:

I love how every project is different. Of course the Baduizm is really magical and the music compliments her message.. but I appreciate these different vibes. New Amerykah part 1 is a bit more dark with political views before the Trump era.
More hiphop production instead of soul and jazz. I think it was ahead of its time, the songs got new meanings for me especially during the pandemic. Her voice wasn't always as smooth as back in the day but I appreciated the creativity and risks.

And part 2 is a lot more chill, very healing. It really showed her versatility.

Soldier was chosen in a poll on the internet to be a single. I still play it a lot. It's not as deep or experimental as other songs on the album, but I like it because it helps the album breathe a bit. (Loved the beat change btw at 0:14). And I guess it's the most radio friendly song on the album and I remember people on the internet liked it the best as well. I don't know why I thought Missy was involved somehow, it must be 'whoo whoo' in the background.

And again as far as message, to me it really makes sense in the project. She was one of the few in R&B/soul who actually had political messages in her music. This was released in 2008.

Part 2 is an amazing album while traveling or just nice background music while cleaning the house, getting work done :sobusyjetsetter:
I remember sitting on the train on my way home from work, in a crowded train in my own Badu bubble..I have listened to that album a lot, these vibes are so relaxing. But I get some people don't get into certain projects, for me it depends on my mood what I listen to.

It took me ages to really get into Worldwide Underground and I don't know why. I guess because it sounds more like a jam session at times, an experiment rather than the final album. Baduizm & Mama's gun are strong albums..I had to stop comparing.

Back in the day I would take time to let projects grow on me, I often don't have that patience anymore..but during the pandemic I really got into that album.

I want you>>>>>>

Btw I ordered the Aaliyah red album the other day and am still subscribed to the Vinyl me please site. The VMP edition of Mama's Gun looks so dope. I wish they would restock.
