i told myself OK work/school.....nothing else can matter until im finished
but this man made me realize that every day should be happy and fun, not just a designated weekend....joy should be sporadic, not planned and forced. and on a regular basis.

THIS! I sometimes feel like I'm punishing myself by pushing all possible joyful things back to the future, when that basically just has the effect that you're missing out. It's hard.
Must be a purple moon, feel like one of those nights...

!!!

It was an eye opening conversation. Living a life which is intentionally devoid of things that make you laugh and happy really is punishing yourself. However, too much indulgence in such lower pleasures can lead to a decrease in productivity. Striking the balance is where the challenge presents itself, but I've realized its also where the biggest reward lies. Taking care of business shouldn't require an entire upheaval of one's life; instead, simple adjustments here and there.
