Tamar Braxton is back on the chart scene with new single ?My Man.?

?It just rolled out of me,? says the singer-songwriter of the emotional declaration inspired by her parents? pre- and post-divorce relationship. ?I wanted to channel my mother and say the things she probably should have said then.?

The single, which Braxton introduced in late April on the WE tv reality show Braxton Family Values, moves 29-26 on the Adult R&B Songs chart per Nielsen Music. It also debuted this week at No. 20 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart. The Grammy-nominated singer?s track record includes the hits ?Love and War,? ?If I Don?t Have You? and ?The One? as well as two top 10-debuting Billboard 200 albums: Love and War (No. 2) and Calling All Lovers (No. 5).

?My Man? is the lead single from Braxton?s summer-slated new album?the first release via her Tamartian Land label through eOne Entertainment. ?This will be the first time you see an X-ray vision of Tamar and everything I?ve been through,? says Braxton of the forthcoming album.

Nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her former role as a host on The Real, Braxton says her previously announced talk show project in association with TV/radio personality Steve Harvey is in development and ?definitely happening.? During a recent visit to Billboard?s Los Angeles office, the multi-tasking mom of three-year-old son Logan declined to reveal specific details about her new album. But the frank and ever-colorful Braxton did weigh in on self-esteem, the upcoming season of her second reality show Tamar & Vince and -- of all things -- smothered pork chops.

Was co-writing and singing ?My Man? also a catharsis for you?

Absolutely, because It happened to me too, with one of my girlfriends. Except I wasn?t married and it didn?t involve Vince. Let me state that now [laughs]. But the situation was really painful. You walk around on your self-esteem because your self-esteem is at the bottom of your shoe. You?re really trying to figure it out. What?s wrong with me?  Am I pretty enough? Do I need to be like somebody else? There?s nothing wrong with you. It?s just not the relationship you?re supposed to be in.

What?s the story behind creating your own label?

It?s all about my Tamartian friends that keep me going, to be honest. Being signed to a record label is great. However, at the end of the day, I don?t want to talk people into my ideas, my artistry and the things I want to do. I?m really connected with my fans; I feel like we?re all on the same page.  But it?s really hard to always break that down to people that have 30 other acts on the table. I?m 40 now and know exactly what I want to do.

Are you surprised that Braxton Family Values has reached a fifth season?

I never had any expectations. When I created the show, I thought of it as five women in different walks of life, and we just needed to be seen in a different way. It?s been a good thing because we get to really air out some issues that we?ve all have had instead of walking around with them. I can?t believe we?ve gone this far, coming up on 100 episodes and already signed for a sixth season.

And what can fans expect from the fourth season of Tamar & Vince?

We?ll still be talking about our relationship and how hard it can be to work together. Nothing?s off limits; no secrets. A lot of people are comfortable living in a covered-wagon syndrome. Why? Let?s talk about issues that married couples are having. Let?s talk about women who are trying to figure out their careers at 40. There?s nothing wrong with that. It?s therapeutic and healing for everybody.

What has all this truth-baring taught you?

Well, I didn?t know I gave unsolicited advice as much as I did [Laughs]. I thought it was okay because I?m the youngest and I can say what I want to my sisters. But no. These are grown women you have to respect, and I didn?t want to hurt my sisters? feelings anymore. So I had to really to take a look at myself.

I?ve done some growing up. Musically, it?s definitely become easier to be introspective and bring it all out. I know who I am as a woman and I?m not ashamed. I?ve been through a lot of things and I talk about it on this record.

How are you spending Mother?s Day?

I?m touring with Anthony Hamilton, so I?ll be onstage, honey, the best place on earth. We?ll be in St. Louis so that means I?ll eat good. Get me some smothered pork chops at the original Sweetie Pie?s and it?s good night.
