French Montana has some advice for fellow artists: If you're thinking of putting out an album with no features, think again.

"Who sits there thinking about weird shit like [going platinum with no features]?" the rapper said in a new interview with Paper. "Those people who put albums out by themselves are weirdos."

"Music is about having fun," he continues. "If I'm chilling with A$AP Rocky, or chilling with Drake or The Weeknd and we record, and then I have to say, 'Look here, bro, I'm thinking about dropping this album just by myself.' Artists would stop fucking with you."

At least, the words of wisdom seem to have worked for Montana, whose recent sophomore album, Jungle Rules, notched No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums charts. Pharrell, Quavo, Travi$ Scott and Future all appear on the disc, and its smash hit "Unforgettable" features Rae Sremmurd's Swae Lee. In fact, only five of the album's 18 tracks involve Montana alone.

A successful LP with no features is not impossible, the most obvious counter-example being J. Cole's featureless No. 1 album 4 Your Eyez Only last year. But Montana contends that artists who skip the features might have to lower their expectations.

"If your name is not getting bigger everyday, that's a problem," the 32-year-old explains. "It's like, when you're hustling and making money. If you're not making more money than you made last year then something's wrong. You have to reevaluate your books."

Gilgamesh.

Every hit he's had has been because of the features so of course he'd say that.
