Crayola's new color name draws criticism

Quote(CNN)Color no one surprised: These days, even a new crayon name draws criticism.

Crayola announced the name of a new blue crayon this week: "Bluetiful," which beat out four other names with 40% of the vote in an online naming contest launched in July.

But critics say the name will teach children a nonword. It prompted a hue and cry (pun intended) on Twitter.

"Of thousands Eng & foreign words for new blue hue, @Crayola mangles real word, fails at teaching kids color name AND spelling," wrote one user.

"Kids are gonna be so confused with color names now," wrote another.

Crayola caved, it seems.

over a crayon?

the crayons from the 90s (from what I remember) had weird names.....not all but some. I remember one color being called macaroni and cheese

it's not really a big deal. people love to get outraged over anything these days

I was thinking it was gonna be a "blue lives matter" thing
not "kids are gonna be confused about color names!". No they wont first of all because its a shade of blue, 1 of many
and only the name for the crayon. Who cares anyway its just the light spectrum or whatever. Also, its only Crayola
if you dont like it, by a different brand of crayons for your kid :uhh:
