Puerto Rico is such a poor country as it is.  It really is sad.  My boyfriend's father lives in San Juan, and he said they're okay.  But the way this shit affects the entire island is sad.

When he was up here a month ago, he was telling us about how poor and far behind the US PR is.  And it's really eye opening.  It's so ironic how these islands people go to for luxury stays are some of the poorest places in the world.  I went to Dominican Republic in 2016, and it honestly seemed like a scary place outside of the resort.

yea I went in June and some of my girl's family is there
we went through Old San Juan and yea, you could see ppl literally building little houses and painting them, there all these old cars parked everywhere
then her grandmother lives in what looks like the jungle
but it's not THAT bad from the parts I saw. Nobody has outhouses, and the technology is up to date kinda

I feel bad for these poor islands having to deal with all these hurricanes, though.  And back to back at that.
