Fraud is huge over here in states so there's definitely more layers to protect people. Don't know what the situation is with banks overseas.

But the level of protection IMPOSED on us gets annoying sometimes. I have to make sure I alert my bank before traveling to another state, etc. Otherwise I run the risk of getting a card declined mess and having to call the bank and blah blah blah
