In an interview with Zendaya for the latest edition of CR Fashion Book, hip-hop?s newest queen Cardi B got super real about being Black and how, since blowing up, people have tried to remove blackness from part of her identity. Cardi, who is of Afro-Trinidadian and Dominican descent has been the subject of conversations pertaining to light-skinned privilege and ?exoticism? in hip-hop, as always been open and proud of her heritage. ?I hate when people try to take my roots from me,? Cardi B told CR Fashion Book. ?Because we know that there?s African roots inside of us. I really just want people to understand that the color that I have and features that I have are not from two white people f*cking.?
