M-Rocka

I always thought it was Monica's song too. Eternal's version is cute though.

Long story short clive got the song for monica, she was busy promoting a song to record it and he wasn't going to pay until she recorded. The writer shopped it back out, eternal's team heard it and wanted it for their greatest hits album. Clive being who he was the writer asked clive if it was ok... clive said they can record it but not promote it in North America bc Monica is going to release it as a single. They agreed and the rest is history and that's why almost no one in the usa knew about their version until the internet got big. They released it in 97 then monica released hers in 98

Oan: the writer said the song was written about his dog and his wife. Clive wanted a more youthful sound so he got rodney Jerkins to produce monica's and adjust the lyrics a little
Eh... 🤷🏾‍♂️
