Leave in's are best used when the hair is damp. So yeah don't dry it too much, that's probably why you're using so much product. Think of the leave in conditioner working with the moisture of your hair, as opposed to almost completely supplying it TO your hair. The leave-in locks in the moisture you've gotten from wetting your hair.
Use a little less product and dry less, tell me what happens.
Expect to do a lot of trial and error before you find out what works for your hair. (You remember those pics of me looking a sideshow Bob fool.....
?? I didn't know what to do once my hair started getting longer. it took a while.) Be patient.
