Many put so much emphasis and worry into staying "relevant". There's nothing wrong with having a great run, cashing in on the height of the career and then accepting that the hype has fizzled. It's just the way of the world. If so many people didn't take it as a personal insult and just see it for what it is, then it'd be a lot easier to accept.

If Michael went through it, no one is exempt.

But I'd imagine that social media doesn't make it the easiest thing to swallow - when you have people in your comments screaming that you're now a flop, etc.
