QuoteMEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was shot and killed Wednesday night during a confrontation with U.S. Marshals that led to a tense situation between MPD officers and a crowd on a Frayser street.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, officers with the U.S. Marshal Service's  Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force came into contact with Brandon Webber, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants as he was getting into a vehicle in the 2000 block of Durham in Frayser on Wednesday.

While officers attempting to stop Webber, he reportedly rammed his vehicle into the officer's cruisers multiple times before jumping out with a weapon.  The officers opened fire, striking and killing the man.

After the shooting, Memphis police officers at the Old Allen Station received a call to assist the U.S. Marshals. MPD officers were not involved in Webber's shooting.

Around that time, a large group started gathering on the scene and several individuals began throwing concrete rocks and bricks at officers and squad cars. Fire officials also said windows were broken out of a fire station, though no firefighters were hurt.

In a post on Facebook, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said a concrete wall outside a business was torn down.

"Let me be clear—the aggression shown towards our officers and deputies tonight was unwarranted," he said.

Video shows one man using a chair to hit a police cruiser, and a WREG reporter at the scene was knocked to the ground by a man.

The violence reportedly led officers to call in back up as well as don protective clothing.

Authorities confirmed at least 25 officers received some sort of injury and they were forced to set up a triage unit on the scene for the officers who had been hurt.  They were eventually forced to use a chemical agent to disperse the crowd.

"What I need now is for everyone to stay calm," Police Director Michael Rallings said during a news conference early Thursday morning. "If your home or car was vandalized during these acts, you need to call police.  If you witnessed acts of violence or vandalism you need to call police."

Thursday morning, Strickland said Rallings made the right call to disperse the crowd because of violence against officers and the media. He also praised Memphis Police officers and Shelby County Sheriff's deputies for exercising restraint at the scene.

"It took remarkable courage based on years of training not to retaliate," Strickland said.

Three people were arrested after the chaos:Eddie Richardson, Kleston Beverly and Joshua Taylor. Police said each of the men were among the people causing problems at the scene and refused to leave when told to disperse. Taylor, 19, even laid on the ground and told officers, "ya'll gonna have to lock me up today."

Taylor was charged with inciting a riot and riot, while Richardson and Beverly were charged with disorderly conduct.

Brandon Webber, 21, was fatally shot by officers in Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday as they tried to arrest him for outstanding felony warrants outside his home

Violent clashes between police and protesters broke out in the streets of a working-class Memphis neighborhood after a 21-year-old black man was shot dead by U.S. Marshals during an attempted arrest in his family's front yard.

The violent clashes broke out after Brandon Webber was shot and killed by officers on Wednesday night as they tried to arrest him for outstanding felony warrants outside his home in Frayser in North Memphis.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations said officers went to the home at about 7pm to look for Webber who had outstanding felony warrants.

Officers said they saw Webber get into a vehicle and that he then proceed to ram task force vehicles several times before exiting with a weapon. Marshals then opened fire on Webber. He died at the scene, according to officers.

The Bureau would not say how many marshals fired or how many times Webber was shot. They have also refused to say what the felony warrants were.

His father, Sonny Webber, said his son was shot between 16 and 20 times.

Webber, who had a history of arrests on minor drug-related and driving charges, was the eldest of eight children and had two young children of his own - a two-year-old boy and a newborn daughter.

He was described as an honors student who graduated from Memphis Central High School in 2017 and was enrolled at the University of Memphis.

The mother of his toddler son was in labor in hospital when Webber was killed. She filmed a Facebook Live video crying in her hospital bed after hearing the news. It is not yet clear if she is pregnant with Webber's third child.

Public records show that Webber was arrested five times, for driving violations and on charges that included possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Shortly before he was shot on Wednesday, Webber posted a live video on Facebook that showed him in a car, rapping and apparently smoking a marijuana cigarette. In the video, he looked out the window and said he saw police. With a laugh, he looked directly into the camera and said the officers would 'have to kill me.'

The video appeared to have been removed from his Facebook page late Thursday morning.

In the hours after his death, friends flooded Webber's Facebook page with messages of love, grief, disbelief and outrage at the authorities responsible for his death.

'He was loving and a very sweet kind person,' Diamond Butler, who has known Webber since middle school, told DailyMail.com. 'I just want everybody to know he was a caring person. He took care of his kids.'

you're a miserable weird ass fagg.

With that being said, this boy ALLEGEDLY at 20 years old had felony warrants, multiple, for his arrest. I'm not understanding what he or his family thought would happen, no shade. No he shouldn't have been shot 20 times but I'm tired of defending these criminals. Now this is all alleged because the police likes to make shit up but yeah.

It's unconditional, these days you know....
