Amur the Siberian tiger has hunted numerous goats before, but when zookeepers placed one formerly nameless goat in his cage as live food, the magnificent animal decided to do something different.
Instead of treating the goat as his prey, the tiger didn't go after it. This was rather shocking to his caretakers because Amur had never behaved like that with any other animal during his bi-weekly, live animal feedings.

The park wrote on its website: "Nobody taught the goat to be afraid of the tiger. So, Amur decided not to mess with the fearless goat, and didn't eat it.
"During the day, Amur and Timur walk together like a pair of good friends. Timur takes Amur for an alpha male, and follows [him] everywhere. Timur's fearlessness and caution have led to such a paradoxical result."
As the goat originally was going to be dinner, it hadn't been named.
But after the pair became best buddies, it was obvious that the animal would be sticking around much longer than expected, so the surprised zookeepers gave the goat a name: Timur.

Since the moment Timur and Amur met, the pair have rarely left each other's side. Now, instead of eating live food, the tiger is eating raw meat instead, and the zookeepers don't know if or when he'll ever switch back.
In the meantime, Amur is quite protective of his goat BFF. In fact, park officials said that the tiger "hissed at an employee who feeds the tigers, as if to tell him, 'Hey, don't you ever approach my friend.' Before that, he'd never shown any aggression towards staff.
Another unusual friendship that has blossomed in one of the most unlikely ways!
