Them is nothing like the trailer portrays

Its a supernatural thriller.... just set in like the 60's
Have you seen Lovecraft County? If so, is anything like that?

Thats more Fantasy IMO
THEM is a slight voodoo/religious/haunting mess

Idk I'm still not interested. I didn't watch the LoveCountry either. I seen a sex scene on pornhub that confirmed that it wasn't for me. The whole voodoo/religion thing is a stereotypical trope for blacks in horror and supernatural films. Y'all probably never even noticed, but there's a character doing voodoo in the same horror film brandy survives.

why couldn't they do a supernatural thriller during another time period? Why the 60s? Cause they needed an excuse to bring up race?! Somehow race always come into play and that's just not Fantasy to me.

Us and Spell, even though it was voodoo themed, were set in modern times.

I fell asleep on Us twice I couldn't tell you much about it. Does Spell have racial undertones? Negative depictions? I haven't watched it. I'm all for us doing other genres, but imma need them to leave the racial stuff alone. As much as I like the movie Eve's Bayou I can't help but notice the negative depiction of the dark skinned black man.

I didn't notice any racial undertones. You will probably find some though.
And Samuel L Jackson was on a hot streak at the time.It had nothing to do with his skin tone.
