i was on my way into the building and saw a woman who may have just been a bit older than me...

she had a push cart full of groceries, it looked heavy.
and there's a small amount of stairs you have to get up before  u get to the elevators  in the lobby.
so this means she'd clearly have to LIFT it.

instead of assuming she could handle it cuz she's young and not an older lady, i simply asked her "do u need help?"

she was SO thankful...clearly relieved. and immediately welcomed me to assist .
i started lifting it for her up the stairs. it was heavy as fuck but i was determined to get it done for goddess.
the concierge saw me helping and ran to help as well.

she was SO happy.... just cuz i helped her. she was like "u saved me a trip back down!"
seems like her plan was to take items one at a time back and down the elevator.

we got talking in the elevator and i found out she's from NYC too.
so i made a lil buddy from back home...im sure i'll see her again

this all goes back to not assuming all black women are so "strong".
and getting rid of that "oh she got this!" mentality.

i simply treated her the way i would treat my sisters, aunts or cousins .
