Silk Sonic opened the show and sounded great. Interesting how Black Women are often criticized for lipping but no one ever says anything when they've blatantly done it in this era tho   

I think everybody gets flack when people can TELL that someone is lipping. There are some artists that are just better at it then others so it's easy to believe them. Weve seen beyonce sing great live, and she's good at lipping, so to believe that shes always great live isnt a stretch. We know bruno mars is a great singer, we know Anderson is great, etc. Brandy is someone who's lipping isnt believable imo, so I can ALWAYS tell when shes doing it.  Also, her vocal ability when lipping is always MILES better.  I love Brandy but she isnt a "LIVE" girl imho. We always gonna be a lil harder on those types, especially when u walking around being revered as a "VOCAL BIBLE"
I hate that some people threw that on her because she isnt great at holding all that pressure and not letting it affect her. That's why she has GO TO live songs and why she'll always lip a performance

Yeah it's a lot to live up to when the general public don't realize why she's called that in the first place. It's certainly not because everyones studying her performances    It's because we all study her VOICE, choices, style and nuances. Brandy on a good day can do wtf needs to be done but hasn't always been as consistent as the others over the years. I think you're 100% right about her chasing perfection and choosing to lip a lot of the time because she's likely in her head over that title. No one outside of her peers or people that are into music the way that we are or going to actually look into why she's called that, or do some sort of deep dive research    she deserves the title tho. I have never interpreted "Vocal Bible" as greatest of all time, she's simply someone we hold in high regard and has been a personal BIBLE for many of us to study. It's personal and everybody ain't gotta agree

I don't agree with everyone catching flack for it though. People like Bruno will always get a pass for a myriad of things because he's popular and a male first and foremost, although, yes, he's more than proven himself by now.

Im proud of Brandy though. There's a lot more to be done and improved upon when she returns to the stage (im sure she's aware of that more than anyone) but, she's certainly come a long way from the Human era.  That version of her wasn't at all confident IMO, it's hard to go back and watch certain things from that era, interviews included smh

They need to invite more of the older rnb divas to perform.
