Speaking with Rig and Brandy's Unconditional Oceans (India) has got my mind racing with thoughts. isn't it interesting that Brandy looks up to Whitney so much but is actually anti-Whitney musically? I never found whit to be that adventurous as an artist. And,  that Full Moon era was such a crucial time in her career. I now feel even worst about her not releasing more singles. This era was what she had been working towards, to finally put out the records that truly represent her. I know we go up for the ballads but its the edgier uptempos that needed exposure, to solidify her sound.

!!!! Did you watch her talk with Gerrick Kennerly on Whitney? It was soooo interesting when they discussed Brandy's shift sonically in Music with Never say Never and that work with Darkchild influencing Whitney. It's honestly insane to think about when u know how influential Whitney is from a pure singing standpoint. Brandy is right up there though in terms of a SOUND influence. There needs to be documentaries on shit like this and I'd watch hours on this kind of content 👀

No i haven't. I will in a few hours. I didn't know she spoke about her own music. I thought it was going to be a Whitney praise show so i paid it. I will certainly watch that tonight! I would also watch that documentary, but who would produce it? It would definitely need to be a huge fan LOL. I been thinking about her influence lately, and how the males of RNB have studied Brandy.

Honestly, Brandy's problem is that she doesn't know or have a creative team to sell her different/weird songs... I would gag if she gets her shit together visually/creatively and released songs like Unconditional or Lucid as singles w/ videos to sell the song instead of what ppl expect from her... real fans wanna see her be in the bag of what actually makes Brandy great... but Frank Gatson and his antics ain't gonna give the Solange or alt-R&B girl Brandy truly could tap into

Yeah that's a major issue too. Put yourself in place of a new listener, do you leave Verzuz feeling Brandy's progressive? No. Does a regular listener leave her concert thinking she super alternative? I don't think so. She hasn't found a way to truly showcase her versatility. Everything is always single heavy and we know her singles don't reflect her albums well. I am waiting on the day she hires some background singers who can go toe to toe vocally with her for some live performances.

I am more is my favorite album cut from B7. Really love that song, super relatable and i love her approach vocally. I just wish the beat was rockier. And I AM MORE should've been the album title! For B8, i hope for even more rock tracks, something similar to Nine Inch Nail's Closer.
