I still can't imagine how this is possibly more lucrative than keeping your publishing and have steady income. It probably is, but it sounds so crazy to me. The music industry is in such a bad state, it's sad.

It's not that hard to imagine. Streaming produces peanuts for owners and the purchase of music is almost non-existent. It's important for artists to own their masters at some point but it's more lucrative to know when to sell since they'd never make the amount of what's being offered for their music.
