Also I thought it was so funny that blu expressed a like for Jay Z (did she say they messed around? I cant remember) and beyonce and Jay came and named their damn child Blue :omf:
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Quote from: ATLien on Today at 02:46:17 PMshe was way too close to Faith at the time
and we weren't really in need of two Faith Evans on the scene

not sure if that was intentional from the label

Hit Em Up Style was refreshing and fun but after that i'm not surprised she kinda faded

Bad Boy was kinda running shit and Faith was with Bad Boy

yep. I remember arguing my sister down that it was Blu on Wake Up Everybody. You can't have 2 of basically the same artist. Especially not when one is already a veteran in the game and the other used to sing background for the main one

I think the minute Faith got a whiff of Blu, she immediately understood how Mary felt.

Faith wasn't exactly marketed and introduced as an original gorl herself

Faith and blu Cantrell are nothing alike imo.  They have similar sounding voices but make COMPLETELY different music. Blu is lowkey a jazz vocalist tbh.  I feel like Blu is a much RAWER singer as well

they def aren't clones of one another especially artistically and vocally

but i can see why Blu was a great fit as a background singer for Faith

Faith does a lot of jazz "scatting" type vocals as well although I wouldn't say she's a "jazz artist"

plus they could pass as sisters

for the average viewer/listener who isn't looking into nuances, it's easy to see why many people kinda put them in the same box

and that especially rings true when we're talking about mainstream back then...cuz a lot mainstream is always driven by the younger crowd who ain't really gonna sit down and pick things apart. the gorls just wanna shimmy, bop and keep it moving. Faith saw a lot of mainstream success.

def doesn't mean they're actually just alike though. just alike enough for people to think they are.

U know what, faith has been jazzy at times. Overall i do think faith is a better singer but I used to feel like Blu was so RAW with her vocal and i dont necessarily feel that about faith. This last 40 secs :gorlonfire:

Blu does that thing sometimes where she's hinging on sounding kinda WILD vocally and I fckn love it.  It never gets too outta hand, just unhinged enough to feel like raw emotion

i loved when she got into that bag

u can tell she loved doing it but she knew not to OVERDO it. it was so nicely sprinkled over the alber

klappa.
