QuoteNo Doubt (30th Anniversary), the debut album from 702—a project that introduced the Las Vegas trio as one of the era's most promising female groups. Released on October 8, 1996 via Motown and Biv 10 Records, the album blends hip-hop soul attitude with polished vocal harmonies, capturing the evolving sound of contemporary R&B.

Anchored by standout singles like "Steelo" (featuring Missy Elliott) and "Get It Together," No Doubt delivers a confident mix of youthful swagger and emotional depth. The production—handled by contributors like The Characters and Donell Jones—fuses groove-heavy beats with melodic hooks, giving the album a distinctive balance between radio-ready appeal and street influence.

Commercially, the album made a strong impact, reaching No. 82 on the Billboard 200 and earning Gold certification in the U.S., fueled by over 500,000 units sold.  Its success helped position 702 as a rising force in the R&B landscape, further amplified by award recognition and charting singles.

No Doubt is more than a debut—it's a snapshot of late-'90s R&B at a pivotal moment, where girl group harmonies met hip-hop edge. For fans of classic Motown-era reinvention and the golden age of urban soul, this album remains a foundational listen with undeniable attitude and timeless grooves.

QuoteLas Vegas Sign Ceremony to Honor R&B Group 702 on 30th Anniversary of Debut Album

Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II will host a ceremony at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. to honor Las Vegas-born R&B group 702 on the 30th anniversary of its debut album, "No Doubt." The ceremony will celebrate the group's legacy and its roots in Southern Nevada.

Original group members Kameelah Williams and LeMisha Grinstead will accept a County proclamation. The ceremony also will honor the memory of founding member Irish Grinstead.

"702 carried the sound of Southern Nevada around the world, and they did it with our area code as their name," said Commissioner McCurdy. "Thirty years later, we are proud to welcome them home and light the sign in their honor."

Named for the Southern Nevada area code, the multi-platinum group released "No Doubt" in 1996. Motown Records has announced an official global re-release of the album to mark the anniversary. The ceremony will kick off a weekend of anniversary celebrations in Las Vegas.

Is it considered "30 years of 702" when the last album they had was 24 years ago?
