There's so many factors to this topic

But mainly I think there is a stigma within our community that any type of psychotherapy labels you as crazy or lessor, or not "strong".

There's truth to the stereotype that black families will take traumatic secrets to the grave.

And that is seen by the fact, there are so many young blacks that experience traumatic events but never learn how to cope with them.

Whether it's rape, molestation, abuse, traumatic news.... older blacks just believed in keeping the doors shut, disregarding the effects it had on the mental.

And it only continues the cycle for the children to pass down their bad mental traits to their offspring.

Before I read the article, AA's don't seek psychological help due to conditioning of society portraying AA's as inherently troubled. How can you expect AA's to seek help when they're faulted for lashing out or showing signs of mental disability? Like there's never excuse. They're just troubled but with white people there are always excuses.
