Why does everything need to be a competition with you guys?  This is kind of an apples and oranges thing, anyway.  One is a 60s pop icon. And one is an 80s r&b icon.  How did these two end up even being compared?

And also Diana Ross is one of the biggest black stars to have ever been.  She's one of the biggest worldwide superstar legends.  She kicked down barriers for all the other black female stars after her.  Anita Baker has a better voice, so she's probably more influential for vocals.

But I just think you'd have to reach a whole lot to compare them.  They are from different eras.  If Anita actually did outsell The Supremes it's because more people were buying music in the 80s and early 90s than in the 60s and 70s, not because her music was more iconic.
