I was watching this documentary, "Creole Common Routes: St Domingue (Haiti)" which hits on a few amazing facts including:

1) Free People of Color were generally more educated than their White counterparts :justabit:  :supluv: Let's just cut to the chase. Smarter. lolz.  :raycharles2urmess:

2) Prominent black/creole people were the first to rise up to the cause in the famous Plessy vs Ferguson case to begin the fight against segregation.

The education that many of them acquired over in France (many of them left the states for school and came back) opened their eyes to the many injustices occurring in the states. They took action.

They used their power and influence to HELP themselves and the people who may have had less of a voice and education , but shared much of the same African roots as they did. They never forgot that they were ultimately Black and therefore were ultimately fighting for the rights of their descendants. :stressed:
