I wouldn't necessarily take someone posing for a photo with a gay guy as "supporting LGBT". If that's all it takes we're pretty desperate to be accepted.

And it's a part of the problem and why many straight men, especially straight Black men, may distance themselves completely from gays. If they're smiling for a picture with them, they're a supporter of gays, etc. Being gay isn't Oliver's entire existence, nor is it what he puts on his resume, or what he deposits into the bank. Maybe Chris just respects him as a powerful and influential man.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
