I don't know. It just doesn't sound as authentic as her mixtapes. It's like she did all that EDM/pop music then the Tringle didn't really perform that well, and people starting saying they want more R&B and she scrapped the whole album, recorded all new songs (sans I Am) and it just seems to be like the writers and producers just forced an 'R&B' album instead of it happening naturally. This was her time to really tell us a story of what she's gone through over the past few years and she failed. I actually like the 3 songs from the Tringle more than a majority of this album.

At the end of the day it's bound to be different since she's signed to a label. It's a mix of what she wants and what her label forces her to do. I also think there's barely anything as strong as "Save my soul" and "Say love" on the album, I'm talking the quality of the songs + the vocals. The thing is she had the deadline for "Mad love" and scrapped almost the whole project as you mentioned, but according to her it was because was unhappy about "When love hurts" and that the label chose that song to kick off the "Tringle" era. After her dad passed, she then realized she needed to stay more true to herself music wise and just started recording again.

It's not her best body of work but at least now we won't have to wait another 10 years to hear the next one hopefully.
