Deadliest Weekend in Chicago of 2016 Leaves 17 Dead, 42 More Wounded

The last weekend of October was Chicago's deadliest weekend of the entire year. The Chicago Tribune reports that 17 people were fatally shot over the weekend leading up to Halloween, and three of the victims were minors?one was an eighth grade honor roll student, Demarco Webster Jr., and two others were 17-year-old twin brothers, Edward and Edwin Bryant. A total of seven victims were under the age of 20.



In addition to the 17 people who were killed in Chicago over the weekend, 42 more were wounded, according to the Chicago Tribune. The weekend's fatalities bring the homicide count for the city up to a tragic minimum of 638. The number of people shot in Chicago is now 3,662, while by comparison the Tribune reports the city saw 2,556 shootings by this same time last year.
