John Legend won a Tony Award on Sunday night (June 11) as co-producer of Jitney, which won the award for best play revival, per Broadway.com.

After winning multiple Grammys and a 2015 Oscar for best original song for Selma's "Glory," scoring a Tony means Legend is one award away from achieving EGOT status, a.k.a. winning all four major American entertainment awards.

August Wilson's Jitney follows a group of men who try to earn a living by driving unlicensed cabs, or jitneys, in the 1970s. The limited engagement ran from January 19 to March 12  (previews were held in December) at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

As the executive producer of Southside With You and Underground, Legend told Billboard in January what fuels his diverse resume. "Enlighten, inspire and entertain. I feel like those are the things we look for in projects," he said. "Obviously, my day job continues to be music, but I feel like we want to put out art that makes the world more interesting and more beautiful, and we?ve been able to do that."

Legend's wife, supermodel and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, took to Twitter to recognize her husband's feat. "John won a Tony!!!," she wrote. "He has a GOT!"

Like Legend, Bette Middler -- who won the Tony on Sunday night for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a musical for Hello, Dolly! -- is also one award from achieving EGOT, missing only an Oscar.
