It's not that she's using the wrong shade of makeup. It's possibly the wrong tone which it's why it appears so yellow.

Darker women have a harder time finding foundations to match their undertone. Just because MAC carries 3 shades of dark doesn't mean they work on all dark women. Some dark women have a red undertone and others have yellow and purple. Her makeup artist found a shade that may be in her range but the yellow in her makeup isn't working. She appears to need a reddish base which is very hard to find.

Also darker women's faces may be lighter than their bodies and vise versa. So blending and choosing shades aren't as easy for darker women as it is for lighter. She may have looked great in person but the camera picked it up

That's one reason I love Naomi Campbell so much.  She always serves a CHOCOLATE mess.  Through & through.

Malaysia has been doing this ugly yellow makeup too.

Embrace your complexion, girls.

Actually it means it's too dark for them.  :dead:  It would give a white tea if it was too light.

IDK.

Go to 4:57.  This is what all these girls are doing.  They're applying this light ass foundation.
quite possibly the most disgusting thing on this earth

Age literally has nothing to do with it. It's about lack of undertones and artist who know how to properly use them.

You can be 15 and know more about makeup than a 60 year old. Why do you think so many darker women walked around in the 90's looking like ghost. The undertones were grey for darker skin. Niaomi walked many catwalks with grey foundation or yellow circles around her eyes.

The 90s were a sad tine for black girl cosmetics

I cant buy that. Theres Amazon. Theres the internet. And if your profession is "makeup artist" its your job to know where to find things. No such thing as "hard to find" with the internet and all these cosmetics companies catered to Black women. They all look the same shade (except Tiny) so they probably all used the same foundation which is lazy on the MUA's end. They coulda hit up Opal, or Iman, but wanna be MAC gorls so they settle for those 3 shades of Black and end up looking stupid.

I do agree about the camera possibly throwing things off. But that "cant find my shade" thing not so much.

You clearly aren't a dark skin woman who has looked for foundation. Because if you were you'de know it's not that simple. Again...it's not about shade it's about tone. So just because you see a aisle full of dark brown foundations doesn't mean they will work. You have to understand the complexities of matching dark skin. Even within Iman and black Opal all the tones of one shade isn't represented. There are countless YouTube videos with darker girls who have the same issues. Should the make-up artist know...yes. Because the makeup artist didn't get it right does it mean she TRYING to appear lighter or deals with self hate....absolutely not. Furthermore even if she didn't have any foundation on it's possible her face, neck, and chest are lighter than her hands.

What I meant is, at her age she should know what works for her. Or at the very least have MUA that understands what's flattering.
