Cissy slayed the backgrounds on THAT song.  Everyone loves her soprano there and it's one of the things people remember most about the song.  Probably the best she sounded in her life.

Timeless classic.    Even when you look on YouTube, half the comments are praising Cissy's voice on there, or asking who is wailing soprano in the background. 

I thought we were talking about vocals, not critical acclaim.  Aretha was incredibly talented.  She paved the way.
