I know the tv show. We have a discussion about this issue every year. In Holland there is a Santa called Sinterklaas and the guys who help him are called Black Pete. People claim they are black because they go through the chimney to deliver gifts. When kids are naughty there is a story they will take them with them to Spain. Back in the day kids were really scared of him but nowadays he is more of a kind funny friend that only gives candy. Of course when you think about it it is a mockery of black slaves, they were also portrayed as Devils. However, people who grew up with this and little kids have warm memories and nostalgia when they think of the holiday..they think of good food, gifts and happy times with family. When you try to change something that was amazing in your childhood people get scared and angry. It is a difficult situation...
