I think this is a true testament of the pedestal that we place celebrities on.
These people shelled out tons of their hard earned money -- including the initial donation which was required to qualify them for this, the plane or bus ticket to the theatre (since it wasn't included), and their movie ticket -- just to perch in a seat next to Chilli for a couple hours.

thats pretty cool of them but i just cant see myself spending thousands to hang out with someone.

I feel the same.

And I just can't bring myself to agree with the way TLC did this. It's a message that if you are poor, or less fortunate, you are somehow less deserving of their presence. Yes, some may have given little when they actually have more to give. I totally get that that these people who held more back would have shown less "devotion" to TLC. But I am sure there are many fans who really only gave little because they only have little to give.

How is this fair to them? I guess one could argue that the this album that they've promised to deliver as a result of the funding should suffice. But where are any clues or updates that point towards this coming into fruition? Pics in the studio? Anything? Give them something so they can feel that they've contributed to a worthwhile cause. Something besides pictures of you smiling with fans who could afford to buy your presence.

But this is TLC. Most of their fan base is around the age of 30 and should know what to do with their money. And the money is used to fund the album, period. Not to hold them over financially. I mean, they could have said "donate an amount of your choice" and call it a day. But this way, they can give something back to these hardcore fans, besides an album that wouldn't be possible without those same fans.
