Like I know there's a stigma and colorism, but for some people even acknowledging anything about being mixed is grounds for a lashing

I've never given a shit what color you are. The color mess just makes me think of slavery. I'm not trying to go back there 

My guess is that this guy must come from a family where everyone is the EXACT same complexion.

That's the only thing I can think of to explain how far and wild he went with the mess.

Some people assign skin color based on arbitrary things that have nothing to do with actual skin color because sometimes people get two different skin tone classification until you put them side by side.

Like People consider August Alsina light skin, but not Trey Songz

All of this stuff ...still very real issues within the community.

I'm all for the "We all Black...period! Dassit" mess, but let's not use that as a broom to sweep conversations under a rug. We KNOW it's not that simple for us as a community. At least not yet. Let's not lie to ourselves.

Sometimes the only way to heal is to get things out and talk about it. We are so damn programmed to move with certain things in silence that I feel we unknowingly SHOVE mess away before it even gets a chance to unfold into what could be a very productive conversation.

But I understand. In a way the conversations do emphasize division in a sense, but we have to remember that there would be no conversation without unspoken teas being there already for us to talk about.
