when u think about it
don't plan on EVER having to worry about something like this personally, but i feel bad that there's legit laws in place that say that one human can remain caged if they don't have coins to get out, while the other can walk free if they do.
Kalief Browder, the guy who killed himself
had a bail of "only" $3000. may not sound like a lot to some, but ultimately its a huge unexpected expense that may be impossible for a struggling family to get together in time for a timely release before trial.
he spent THREE YEARS in jail waiting for his trial - all at the mercy of prosecutors who kept postponing his mess. they kept pushing the trial dates back. asking him to admit to stealing someone's backpack.
THREE YEARS behind bars getting his ass beat for filth and eventually killing himself after his release once they decided to drop the charges against him.
It's infuriating. Inmates beaitng his ass, correction officers SLAMMING him to the ground for nothing....for three whole years..cuz he didnt have $3000. it is FUCKED UP.
here's the footage of the mess he endured because his family didn't have the money.
