The funny thing is that Tyler Perry asked Monique to invest in herself. She translate that into " work for free ".  Truth is that there are a lot of people around Monique working for "free". From interns, to clothes, to award show gift bags, people are giving away products and services every damn day for free. I understand at the point in her career , she felt like she did not have to. But, this would have allowed her to go from a black actress to a household name. Yes, as black people we have to "play the game" to an unfair degree, but you cant be mad at the system. 

Monique has to understand that this is not Steve Harvey's fight or Tyler's, or Oprah's. They are only successful because they have played the game. If they did not , they would be where she is. If she want real change she would need her white peers to support her the  way they are supported themselves.
