DDDDD
I'm not gonna lie when I took my DNA test I kept the results to myself unless someone asked because I didn't want anyone to think I was tryna claim MIXED.
Well I would say if it's something you already knew of and simply confirmed it, claim it! The most important thing is research IMO. And connecting how the results relate to you. Do you know the NAME of the ancestor who gave you this heritage? etc. Without research or knowledge, it's just a bunch of percentages next to countries.
For instance: to be totally blunt, Native tribes could careless about a DNA test. They want to see the lineage of your folks -- what's their names? where did they live at this period in time - was it on an Indian settlement or reservation? how far back is this ancestor? -- and that is how they would determine your blood quantum.
DNA is a great place to start. It lets you know, at least, if you're wasting your time or not.
But it's all about that knowledge. If you are connected and educated on your heritage, it is yours.
And it's good to dig in on ALL heritage. Not just the bits and pieces of it that we may find sexy and edgy.
From Africa, to Asia, to North America...dig the fuck in!
