I'm not gonna be surprised if this is a standalone film or they get a different writer for a sequel

it probably SHOULD be a standalone mess but yeah.....I think this will do well and rarely do movies that make hundreds of millions not get a sequel mess

From what I've read, this movie could birth a whole seperate DC division called, DC Dark, where it will do one-off movies, with different takes on particular characters with significantly lower budgets, but this will hinge on whether this movie is successful. But unlike other blockbuster movies, being that the budgets are signficantly lower, they could continue to have these different one-off takes on DC characters, and still make a profit with moderate success.

Give me Superman Red Son, Samurai Batman, do a R-rated Killing Joke movie, I would love that. With no long contract obligations, I think more high quality directors would be open to doing these movies, with their own interpretations. Would love Fincher to do a dark, dirty and grimy detective based Batman movie. And then concurrently DC could continue to slowly chip away at their expanded universe movies.

Saw this tonight. Absolutely disgusting. Couldn't even make it to the end. Left the theatre midway through. My friend watched it all the way through. Apparently it got better towards the end, but he still found it awful.

it's a superhero movie, what do u expect

Saw it last evening. I thought it was good. It's more so a psychological-drama so if you're anticipating any action then....don't. Joaquin Phoenix gives a really great performance. And my girl Frances Conroy plays his mom which was a sweet surprise for my Six Feet Under and American Horror Story fans. The film is incredibly dark and follows the Joker (Arthur Fleck) and how he came to be. The beginning is slow and then post-Climax it picks up. It's really quite the sad movie and furthers the conversation around chronic mental illness.
