can you separate the person from the artist?

Sometimes it takes a while for me to recover...I stopped listening to M.I.A. for two months after her vaccine tweets. I also lost a bit of respect for Keri after the 5G paranoia.

I muted R Kelly and most of the songs he wrote. I still listen to back & forth but left the rest of the age album behind. I also stopped listening to MJ after the documentary.

And other people like Monica they can be annoying but that doesn't really bother me. I still enjoy the music.

Yes The enjoyment of ones artistry should be separated from the artist and support of the artist

I do not like xtincta but i enjoy alot of her music and I supported some in the past
Tyrese i dont like him his music and i wont support
Brandy I like her work and talent more than i like her at this point and i will support her artistry as much as possible
Monica I do not like the artist most times do not like the music but will suppoort and purchase when i think its neccesary  ( i bought new life)
Future - dont like the artist wont support  but will enjoy some of his work
why?

Well sometimes we are delusional and we think because somone has immense talent that all other aspects are the same and it simply isnt so and social media has brought down celebrity a couple notches now its what u got for us and keep it pushin
Brandy isnt my personal friend or family member shes an artist i admire for her artistry
So that is what i choose to focus on meeting her at chicago and the dc stunt helped with this i simply moved away from the idolatry side of it
And i will continue to promote her talent and work and support it but thats putside of her as a person even tho shes a nice person as well

I get it.. maybe it also has to do with us growing up a bit. I used to be a stan who put her on a big pedestal..but now I just support her work and understand she is just a person. I'm not putting that level of attention and energy in it anymore. I love her music but I also get she can't be perfect all the time.

And I also want to be honest with myself and others, I can't just make myself like something, a single for example, because I have to 100% stan for a person. (BM grew on me a bit tho after the seeing the vid.)

oh, ok. I get it now. I thought you were saying you didn't like her as a person. Yeah the idolatry of celebrities is not good. Celebrities set up images to look a certain way to the public. I mean, your fave could be totally different from that image they put out.  So moving away from that is a good thing.

Could never really do R.Kelly before the mess, but now I have a good reason not to :tistheseas:

i have learnt to do so now. but being a GHan stan during the snapchat/early insta days was HELL

After I became a Li, I couldn't listen to Kellz anymore.

Back in 2009 when the incident with Piss and Rih, I was a HARDCORE Rih and I hated him for a while. Didn't listen to his music at ALL.

Relaxed on that stance after a few years tho.
