Monica is all over the place to be honest.
This C-Murder thing would be nice if she was just trying to get him out for a good cause but, trying to get him out and be his girl is throwing me for a loop. She already gave us You should've known better and it was great we don't need another locked up anthem.
How does she go from Still Standing (Preacher Monica) to this Gangsta girl. I don't like it. I'm not going to say her taste in music is poor because clearly Monica has an excellent ear and knows what works best for her sound. Commitment was a great choice and did wonderful things.
Trenches is just not it for me. Sure the hook is catch but it sounds like a demo. Also Lil Baby's last rap could have been left off. Thats me being super critical, I however think the song will work somehow for Monica. I'm just hoping her album gives us more than this song. I'm not sure if she was just excited about working with the Neptunes but I hope there are better tunes.
Allow me to say that I am a Monica fan but her popularity with me is declining, however she may be picking up younger fans and that's great. She has given me great music over the years that are timeless so if all else fails I will stick to that and I will always root for her to win.
