I think so too. Sometimes controversy works and sometimes it doesn't though. There are several artists that attempted to edge things up and it didnt pan out the way they wanted to. So there's always a risk.

This kinda trumps the notion though of the ppl who assumed he will be losing his fanbase. As if 10 yr olds didnt only just listen to that 1 song of his. I think the video got more people paying attention, if anything. I mean, this is prob the most talked about Lil Nas song on the board and if the music video gave what Holiday did, we wouldn't have even cared.

I don't know..there were some nice scenes but most of it looked like a joke to me. I just can't take it that serious like other people do..the Devil didn't even look that evil, I've seen human beings look more frightening. 
Especially comparing to Cellophane which was so personal, it just doesn't connect somehow.

I don't know..there were some nice scenes but most of it looked like a joke to me. I just can't take it that serious like other people do..the Devil didn't even look that evil, I've seen human beings look more frightening.

! My opinion changed because I watched FKA's video for the first time. Lil Nas video looks cheap compared, and I dont respect biting.

I don't mind a Born this way shock video but the real evil is the Christians who believe you are going to Hell, not the gay people (the story just doesn't go anywhere imo, it's more frustration than inspiration). There is already a lot of darkness in the world, I don't know if this vid will heal anything. But then again I don't live in the USA, the stories I hear about churches and the hate towards gays is disturbing to me. 

People like Twigs prove you can make beautiful art that is powerful and healing with a deeper meaning. I guess that is why they wanted to hire the videographer, but this LNX video feels just like a gimmick to me. I do appreciate he is taking a risk and speaking up about issues, but i would have cut half the video. It's an overload of scenes and looks.

The CGI does look cheap for a 2021 video. Like very What About Us CGI. The video was never anything amazing. I like the song a lot now though. The SATAN Extended Version.

I bet the world will be over it in a month...the question is if brands like Versace still would like to collab and what happens when his demographic - children- don't support anymore. I know he is all casual about it and telling the world his music isn't for kids in the first place..but he performed at a school and even published a children's book.


There are people who believe in a God and like to stay away from Satan imagery..but are still part of the LGBTQ+  community or are supporters. To say all Christians are homophobic is a big statement that will probably cost him some brand deals. Or maybe he will get more popular and take the place that Marilyn Manson is leaving. I'm interested in the next album and if he can keep up this energy or will later depend on an audience of young teens and kids again.

When he said 'people are mad over a cgi pole' I thought to myself 'And FKA Twigs probably really put in the work, rehearsing like an athlete with a real pole.' Not just some let's make it work in a week mentality. Let's have cgi fix it for me. I want to see the behind of the scenes for this video. This copy & paste thing bothers me.

Also the Katy Perry alien video looked better than the weird big alien head they created. Halloween party vibes but maybe I'm too harsh
