I'm sorry but BruNO is so terrible to me

His music is so generic and predictable.... which is a shame because he's really talented (good singer, good producer, multi-instrumentalist, etc). He needs to switch up the formula because that retro! throwback! mess he's been doing for the past 10 years is late.

yea. I've never understood how he got so successful remaking old shit over and over
and it's annoying because part of it is knowing white ppl are boosting him because he's making urban/soul music but not actually Black

listening to the whole album it made even less sense to me that they pushed him into "pop" categories for the Grammys

meanwhile if an actual Black artist would have done an album THAT "black" talking about perms and shalequa waiting on them at the rib shack, it woulda def been put into R&B.

thats kinda where him being racially ambiguous gives him a leg up. and just proves that these awards shows literally throw black people into one bin, no matter what actual genre of music they're making. but others can float around.

really getting into the album put a lot of the points made in this conversation into perspective for real.

i'm not anti-bruno but i def see where a lot of the gorls were coming from  now.

Some black artists do get put in Pop categories tho. Lizzo won best pop vocal a couple yrs ago. And her music sometimes gives me a very lite female Bruno. 

I don't mind Bruno at all but he is corny. At the same time, it's working for him and been working for him, so there's no need for him to change. I just can't fully get in. I mean, if a black artist is inspired by Madonna and wants to do Pop music, let them. If Bruno grew up around R&B music and wants to do more of that and make it a lil pop, let him. The ones that I have a bigger problem with are the white Justins.
