It's one thing to prove your parents wrong. It's another thing to punish them for raising you the best way they knew how (absent of abuse). Can't fault his mother for feeling like screen writing wasn't a promising career move, cause she likely had no example of what that looked like.

Was she suppose to let him not focus and get bad grades because he MIGHT be a screen writer. Kinda unrealistic from a traditional parent standpoint

She could've addressed the bad grades differently but she wanted to be a bitch about it. Why exactly does she want to be a part of his "little" writing career now? Keep the same energy

I'm not saying he's obligated to support her. What I am saying is that he's damn near 60. His mother likely came from a generation where script writing wasn't a conceivable career. Nor did she likely have the psychological competency and sensitivity that parents are expected to have today. So to hold that against her is corny IMO
