I mean I guess
I feel worse for darkskinned women tho. Tyrese, Denzel, Djimon, Daniel Kaluuya, Chadwick, Samuel L, Idris stay or stayed perched in hit movie or franchise mess
the women only have Viola & Lupita for mainstream representation tbh
i def think unambiguously black women are hit the hardest and need more advocation and representation .
But I'll never turn a deaf ear to a black person sharing their story. Especially when it includes their childhood experiences
I believe tyrese went thru all of that stuff in his younger years and I believe he's able to connect it to things he experienced as an adult .
I know hetero black men from different walks of life who privately share the same stories
Honestly bringing up his dating history is even more proof of how anti-blackness may have affected him.
I'm 100% team #protectblackwomen but Black hetero men matter too. They have stories too.
oh don't get me wrong babes, I believe him and his story.
I just care a lot less because it's coming from someone that continues to perpetuate colorism in the black community. (Exclusively dating light or mixed women, policing the behavior of the black women he doesn't even date etc)

thats understandable kwee.
but it's all a cycle IMO - especially when someone is revealing what they've experienced in the past.
i legit know someone who feels he's obligated to date exoticals
not because HE has always felt that way, but because of what his family forced on him
that shit matters because what ppl experience in childhood usually STICKS for a very long time.
as a grown ass man, he's just now coming to realize that he can do whatever he wants.
and is telling me "u know what....i got me a gorgeous black girl. she's not mixed, shes not exotic. shes straight up black. and i dont care what my family thinnks . I like her. "
i helped him really THINK about what he was dealing with instead of LABELING him and dismissing him.
that's when he opened up to me.
but i can guarantee u if i came at him on some " omg get tf away from me u hate yourself nigga!" mess nothing would have been solved. he woulda pushed back and put his defenses all the way up.
Tyrese is sharing something ive never heard him share before. It's worth listening to
his Black experience matters.
