Since we're handing out redemption stories these days. Will Brandy receive hers? She's the only girl who hasn't had her story wrapped up in a nice bow.
Halle Berry, Lefteye, and Venus Williams were all involved with serious vehicular accidents, and none of them were ran through the coals. Even if that's not something that should be touched. Why can't she be redeemed for "The Lie". What she did was noble imo. Like why haven't they successfully spun the narrative on how she was pressured to be a role model to young girls and wasn't allowed the same freedom as artist today like a Rihanna, Chloe, or Ciara.
Either way she needs to stop protecting Sonja. If you followed her career closely, it's very clear that she was ill advised by her manager and her mother to put that story out. Let's not forget how Sonja was on Special Delivery saying she was glad that she didn't get an abortion. Brandy's body language during that scene gave off that she had before and perhaps forced to do it.
Let's just say Sonja is innocent. Even still as a manager If Sonja wanted to save her artist / daughter's career she could have easily taken the hit / fallout and presented herself as a Joe Jackson / Matthew Knowles figure which people assumed to be true by doing a sit down interview and saying "It was my idea, I forced Brandy to do that and I feel ashamed as a mother. I thought I did what was best for her career, i had my management hat on when she needed a parent". The people would have shifted the blame to Sonja and Brandy could have gained sympathy and continued to thrive.
