I don't think this show was made to be a parody but I get it

I think the writers are trying to make black women relatable to the common viewer

anything too real might be off putting to some unfortunately, so they temper it

which makes it a bit corny or awkward, esp to other POC

Yea, I don't think they are tryna go down that road and honestly I don't want them too. This show is fun for a Tuesday night and it can deal with real life issues without having to get too deep or go for the assumed reactions that everyone is looking for.

The writing was good to me. Especially using the death to move all the major plot lines along. I love how fast paced the show is too.
