Ashanti is way more successful than them and currently kinda relevant

Mya > Ashanti in terms of hits and we'll-known songs, IMO.  She also had success for a longer stretch, 1998-2003.  Ashanti was only popular 2-3 years.   

I don't think Mya quite has the right peer in terms of era and hits.  She was always the stray "fourth" in the Aaliyah/Brandy/Monica trio because she came out a few years later and had a few less hits, although she had a respectable career.

People only group Mya with them bc she is around the same age as them but all of them were already established and on a 2nd album by time she came out. I think the main problem of grouping her with them is they were all barely teenagers when they came out but Mya was grown(18/19) when she dropped. Mya never had to go through the teen/adult transition like the other 3. But it's crazy to belittle her success, she might not have had the popularity of the other 3 but she has had some longevity especially seeing how she's been independent over half her career
