Monique decided not to play the Hollywood politics game and the inevitable kinda happened
She kinda knows that's exactly what happened to her and knows that she was possibly pissing the wrong people off by saying "no I won't make an appearance in france to promote precious. Don't care if u fly me first class " but at the same time she expects to be an exception of some sort when it comes to consequences.
This is the entertainment business not Disneyland . Yeah it'd be great if people made exceptions for others just cuz they're black but it's unrealistic to expect that.
She didn't go above and beyond for them and it appears they're not going above and beyond the norm of the industry for her . Sounds like show business to me , or any business for that matter . The concept of reciprocation - especially as it pertains to developing and maintaining key relationships within any business .
But especially Hollywood. "Schmoozing".
It's kind of an unwritten language and code. She went against the grain and unfortunately it didn't work out for her . But that's a risk you take by rolling the dice .
Maybe you'll get a Disneyland-ish ending where everyone gets together and hugs even though the higher ups didn't get what they have come to expect from everyone. Or maybe you'll get a real world ending where they say fuck you and put ur name on a special list .
