Brazilian culture (and ultimately its cuisine) is a mix of African, Native American and Portuguese influence - just like its people.
So while I wouldn't exaggerate by calling it a "black country", it's definitely not a "non-black" country.
The enslaved Africans in the country and their descendants left a HUGE mark on Brazil. Even down to Samba, the country's signature musical style, being started by Afro-Brazilians. Brazil's African/Black history is actually one of the strongest in the diaspora IMO.
So even if the person who wrote this list doesn't know it , it's very likely they were chomping on foods influenced by the motherland .
